State of Grace

April 21, 2009

I thought I’d share a couple pictures from an editorial that I adore in May’s Vogue (UK edition).

“Like a dream you never want to wake up from, the grandeur and femininity of the new-season couture brings fantasy to life, in dusky tones and a symphony of ezquisite details. A little deshabille ensures the most ravishing of reveries”

Theoutnet.com

April 18, 2009

After months of anticipation Net-A-Porter’s budget-friendly (err budget friendlier) TheOutnet.com has finally launched. I got this email a few days ago– just in time for my shopping ban, which honestly I’m pretty grateful for. If not for my self-imposed ban I’d probably order oodles of things that I don’t really need and end up feeling guilty later. For now I’m quite content just doing a little browsing and drooling. I’ve picked a few of my favorite items to share.

Agate Agate Agate

April 17, 2009

Ever since I was a child I’ve had a love for all things agate. I even went as far as napkin holders adorned with agate! The combination of gorgeous colors and rough shapes with a dash of transparency leaves me smitten everytime. My dad bought my sister and I some really cool leather bags with agate pieces sewn into them a couple years ago, and I can’t wait to unearth mine in my old room on my next visit to the US.

Ove the years I’ve conjured up ways to make slices of agate into necklaces, bracelets, even rings. I decided to revisit this love and do a bit of research and I found some things that are definitely worth coveting! The Erickson Beamon necklace at the bottom has the most gorgeous green and purple agate cradled by gold bits… add in the multiple gold strands and maltese crosses and it just makes it that much more alluring. Agate + maltese crosses?! I die.

Lighter Leathers

April 17, 2009

While I wish it was time to abandon jackets all together, the reality is that it’s getting warmer, but it’s still not warm. Fortunately though it is time to put away my heavier jackets and pull out the lighter ones– very ready for those to be in rotation. The wind can pick up at a moments notice (I live on the water and walks to the tube can be a bit brutal) so what better than leather? Though I’ll always have a special place in my heart for black leather– I was raised riding on the back of Harleys afterall– I have a soft spot for the pastel pieces. The thin-as-leather-can-be paper leather is what I envision this dream jacket being made of. I’ve scoured the internet to find a few that would do the trick, and without further ado…

Floral Blazer

April 14, 2009

So I decided to give in and order a floral blazer. I’ve been wanting one since Christmas, but I’ve really been trying to cut down on the shopping– a task which is never easy for me. I have endless DIY projects that I need to focus on, and you know what they say– necessity is the mother of invention. I figure sooner or later I’ll get tired of rotating the pieces in my wardrobe and decide to actually complete all these DIY projects. Not to mention that they aren’t cheap especially because I buy the supplies then get lazy and don’t follow through, which really just leads me to think that I should just abolish my shopping ban. I am refusing to let myself take the lazy way out, and I will infact finish my DIYs one day (hopefully soon). Until that day comes, I’m going to be enjoying my floral blazer. I made a little collage with two floral blazers below. Which do you like better the bright one or the dark one?

Purples for Spring

April 13, 2009

So I’ve mentioned my love for purple before, but this past week I’ve been more and more inspired to add pieces of this color to my spring wardrobe. There are purple flowering trees outside my flat that have started to bloom and they’re ab-so-lute-ly gorgeous! I love finding inspiration for my wardrobe from nature and random things like perfume bottles and things I see around my flat. I was so inspired that I decided to make a few collages. One with a few examples of things that I see daily that inspire me and my fashion decisions, a set of purple inspired outfits, and finally one with all purple shoes! I’ve also included a photo of the trees in the courtyard of my building because they are so beautiful. I’m so so so excited for spring and the prospect of warmer weather and less layering!
